2014 Reflections

So this year 2014 is coming to the end. This year has been such a blast with my friends and my AWESOME teacher. Having to come back to G.I.S has been a good and crazy journey for me. For me to leave would be so heart breaking to be really honest. Im enjoying G.I.S very very much. If I were to change anything about this school, it would be nothing, everything is pretty much good.  

Having opportunities like sports camp was a fun, interesting, emotional, difficult and funny.

Sport camp was one of this years highlights, the food was on point. The sports were new to me aswell. Meeting other school was also cool. Making our own chants was legit. I am very lucky to be a student here at G.I.S.

Also thanks to our Principal Mr Hendricks for making it happen and to us students.

Exponents

WALT- Solve Exponents

In this game I had to figure out equations about exponents. They will give you questions like, find out the answer for letter for m. I think this game really revised back on my knowledge of  exponents. This game was very helpful for my learning. Next time I would like to learn how to subtract integers fluently.   

E-astle Results

In my e-astle test I got a 3a. My results were bad for me, I was disappointed when I found out. I could of improved better on my algebra.    

Order of operations

I found these operations challenging at first because I didn't understand it until I revised the rule that we were told. Bedmas that stands for B- Brackets E- Exponents D- Division M- Multiplication A- Addition S- Subtraction. That was the strategy that helped me. This exercise helped me to be independent. Next time I would like a few more of this exercise. Just so I can be be more faster.

The point of this game is trying to beat

the time session as well as getting points. It was tricky at first but as I got used to it I improved.

Next time I want to work on beating the time session.  

   

Skipping was a surprise !

Skipping for Heart Health

Every year G.I.S  is always invited to skip and perform their Jump Rope routines. This year was nerve racking, my heart was beating as fast as a cheetah. Every single class had their moves and songs to show off.

The confidence that we all took on the performing stage, was encouraging. My favourite performance was all of the classes but the best one that stood out was Rm10.  Why? Because they were all participating. The people were cheering and shouting their names and although sometimes it could get a little bit embarrassing it was still awesome.

The purpose of doing skipping is to keep

• Fit
• Active
• your heart pumping

So guess what it hit the point when it was my class to skip, nerve racking, much. Some part of me wanted to skip and then the other side of me wanted to just sit out, but then I didn't want to let my class or school down. As we skipped to the song I got happy because the people were cheering and people were having fun watching us so I just went with the flow and it was fun.

Walt- Making Nets

In math class our topic was to make nets. To make a nets, we had to use a compass and have an accurate measurement. Making a net, was confusing at times because we got wrong measurements and then we had to start over again. Doing the square based isosceles triangular was easy using the ark. Next time I want to learn how to make different shapes using the ark.

This game was a tricky game because I had to play against the clock.

The shapes that I had done were a bit hard because they weren't familiar.

I really felt pressured because I wanted a good mark so I had to be fast.

Next time I will work on my speed.

I thought that I did pretty good in this game with my score and time.  

At The Museum!

Andy and Mike were chosen to go to Auckland Museum for a worldwide road trip. Andy and Mike sneaked off to the toilets. While they were walking they went passed a huge dragon statue. It had a massive sign in red saying “ DO NOT TOUCH!” At the very bottom of the sign it said in very little writing “Don’t touch, the dragon might come alive.” They thought that it was very funny, so they rushed to the toilets, then headed back to their group.

As the group arrived at the dragon statue,  Andy and Mike stayed back until their class left. As soon as the class left, they raced to the dragon statue and Mike nervously  touched it.

The dragon reared up with his head high, his big blazing teeth, claws sharpen like a needle and his gigantic green tail lifted high and dropped  to the ground. They had turned their laughs to screams. They ran very quickly to find their group but they couldn't so they panicked. Andy told Mike to never give up, so Mike wiped his tears and ran to the nearest exit.

While the dragon was chasing them the dragon stopped at the exit and said to Mike and Andy, “WHY DID YOU TOUCH ME. DID YOU NOT READ THE SIGN?” 
Mike and Andy replied with a fearful look, “sorry we didn't mean to do that, we thought the sign wouldn't be true.”  
The dragon replied with a huge smile, “It’s all right and for the record I was sick of being a statue my whole life and I'm very thankful.” 
Mike asked with a confused voice, “So, so you weren't not trying to kill us or anything bad?”

2012 reflection

Hooray! School is nearly over and Christmas is on its way. I have had a wonderful year learning about different stuff and playing new sport.

Term 1 has been good for the year 7 technology because first they had did ICT for about 10 weeks and then they had did cooking and then they had move on to wood work. I think that the woodwork was the best for room 12 because they loved it and they were happy about it. Some people did trucks, rockets and many more it was a surprise

• Year 7 started tech
• Tri kids  

This is term 2 was cool because we did orienteering, I did not know how to do orienteering before but I got used to it and got along with it. We had lots of opportunity experience with the orienteering trainers.

• Astronomy

Term 3 was probably the best term because we had a disco. Nearly everybody did the dougie and the gangnam style as well, it was so cool and also incredible. People were just enjoying themselves. We also got our netbooks it was quite a time. We used to go to  the computer room for twice a week but now we get to use our netbook all day, everyday.

Term 4, we had a lot of sports and activities that we did. It was a lot to go through and I would always persevere, every time I did not give up, I was always keen to do things.

Last but not least, this year of school has been a challenge to me and to most of us. I also think that this was the best year of school and my memories are full of 2012.

So the game that I was playing involves division, multiplication, metres and many more.

I know that this equation is so easy but it still helps me with my knowledge.
